The University of Kentucky media depot, located in the basement
of William T. Young Library, is a valuable resource provided to all students in
need of digital access. The front room is filled with computers that are each
separated by glass cubicles, to provide a private, quiet space to work. Each
computer is equipped with the latest technology and programs such as adobe and
Photoshop. Prior experience isn’t required to utilize these programs because
they are meant to be very intuitive and user friendly. However, if at anytime
you have questions or difficulties there is always an expert available to help.
The depot also has private recording booths, a green screen room, and offers
rentable equipment, such as cameras or large flash drives. It is recommended
that you always bring a flash drive with you in order to save whatever work you
do to a universal information transporter. The media depot is a must for
students that have media projects for class that incorporate videos or
photography. It’s also a great opportunity to learn even more about how to
develop general multi-media skills.
